The Cornwood
Collection
of wooden lights, lamps and ornaments.
Please see a selection of our artisan lights, lamps and ornaments below. These and more are shown in our 'Shop' page. All are individual pieces made from sustainable, reclaimed wood found in the local Chiltern hills and woodlands. Each is a unique object made from a unique piece of wood, so we can not replicate anything exactly, and once sold they are gone.
But if you like something in particular, a style or design, please get in touch and we will replicate it as closely as possible.
If you would like something bespoke, perhaps for a particular empty spot in your home, office or business, send a photo and your ideas and we will make something especially for you. Of course, there is no obligation to buy.
We love working on interior designer projects. If your home or business has a rustic, country feel, our products will be perfect for you.

The Cornwood Collection

Hello and welcome to The Cornwood Collection of wooden ornaments, sculptures, lights and lamps which I very much hope you will like.
All are handmade, bespoke and completely unique. They are individual pieces made from wood reclaimed from the woodlands of the Chiltern hills that surround us.

My name is Andrew Knight and I am lucky to have been able to turn my hobby into a business.
Working with wood has been apart of my life for a very long time.
There is nothing more enjoyable or satisfying than turning a natural product, an organic plant that has been growing and contributing to nature's great cycle of life for many decades into something useful. By so doing, it's life and usefulness is prolonged into another dimension.

The wood I use is 'deadwood' from the old woodlands of the Chilterns. These hilly areas of poor farmland were planted with trees, mainly beech, many generations ago for furniture making. Over the years native trees such as oak, ash and holly have grown among them. But the woods are still managed for forestry, although sustainability and the benefit of wildlife is now as important as the forestry for the landowners.
Sustainability has become an increasingly important part of life today, and it is nice to feel that I am contributing in my own small way.

Searching for the wood I need takes me on long walks in all weathers, but is as enjoyable as the creative process which follows.
I am looking for the unusual. Often it is the way the wood has grown, sometimes the way it has begun to decompose, but always something unique.
From these, the products I make are also unique, one-off items.

The time it takes to find the right pieces of wood has to be factored into the price, but I hope you will agree that buying something like this is better than a mass produced alternative shipped in from China!

Please have a look through the website. I hope you like what you find.
If you see the perfect item but it has been sold, send me a message because, if I can find the right piece of wood, it is possible that I can make something very similar.
